Yes, this is silly. Yes, I am also serious. All for the purpose of a much bigger and important lesson: Catering your life to your cycle and honoring the shifts in your mood, comfort, and preferences is a beautiful step in the process of understanding and healing your hormones.
So let’s get into it! If each phase of your cycle were a style of pants…what would they be???
Menstruation (aka your period): Yoga pants! Would there be anything else? Just enough room to be cozy, but also you kinda feel cute in yoga pants and a sweater. Who doesn’t? Most importantly, you never feel bad in your yoga pants.

Follicular (technically the start of your period to ovulation): Joggers! You are feeling active and fired up. You’re basically sporty spice. You could take on the world right now and you want to make sure everyone knows it. Live it up, be comfy, and most importantly…go kick ass.

Ovulatory (the 24 hrs that you are likely to drop an egg): Your good ‘ole levis. You know your booty is rockin it in these staples. You feel at your best, your most social, and you are the life of the party. But just so everyone is clear, you still kill it in jeans and a t-shirt. Classic is always a good option.

Luteal (from post-ovulation to the start of your next period): Boyfriend jeans. You are mysterious and chill, cute and laid back. You are happy to lounge around at home by yourself or maybe at a coffee shop by yourself. As long as you are by yourself. They can look and admire, but you will not be making small talk. You’re just there for the vibe.

You’re cycle can be fun and it’s okay to cater your life to your cycle. In fact, I encourage it! The quicker that we realize that our cycle is our super power, affects how we interact with the world around us, and that in different phases we excel in different ways…the quicker we can honor ourselves for who we truly are in each phase.
If you are stuck trying to live each day the same no matter what your hormones are doing, that could be why you might feel like you are always fighting to feel free. Your hormones are literally doing something different every day of your cycle, so instead of fighting that I invite you to try working with your cycle and honoring how you feel.
